AbouT - QUICK OVERVIEW

Hello. How are you? Thank you for being interested in my website and the things I create.

THE SHORT VERSION: I love working in the audio/visualised podcasts and radio industry. It’s that simple. I’m never happier than when coming up with big ideas for brand new podcasts or radio shows. Then leading the creative and editorial vision, overseeing and guiding my talented teams in bringing ideas to life - delivering content that brings joy to audiences, meets a knowledge need, or offers new ways of looking at the world and telling the stories that need to be told.

I possess a finely tuned creative and business instinct, having spent more than two decades working with the best talent, broadcasters and brands to tell the best stories for the best audience experiences.

THE LONG VERSION:, if you should want more detail: I’m a bit of a Swiss Army Knife. I’m a:

·       Editorial and Strategic Leader

·       Executive Producer (Production)

·       Ideas/Development Executive (Innovation and New Business)

Which is built on these solid foundations of being a multi-award-winning:

·       Podcast Producer

·       Music and Entertainment Radio Producer

·       Speech Radio/Documentary Producer

·       Trained Journalist

·       Digital/Social Producer

I have a strong track record in delivering high quality podcast and radio content for some of the biggest broadcasters and brands (see Awards section). I’m also privileged to be a judge for various key industry awards including The British Podcast Awards, The Radio and Audio Industry Awards (ARIAs), and The Audio Production Awards (APAs). I’m also part of The Radio Academy Festival’s Executive Planning Team.

GREAT WITH TALENT: I have advanced talent management skills, managing both influential stakeholders and high-profile talent relationships. I am experienced in working with the biggest names. From seasoned broadcasters to developing/nurturing less experienced talent as they undertake their first dep slots or new audio projects. See Talent Management section for some of these names.

IDEAS: I’m an ideas-person – I and always have lots of ideas up my sleeve. As an experienced Development Exec, I’m more than used to conceiving and pitching fresh and innovative content ideas to clients, to successfully win major new and strategic business.

CONTACTS: I have a great contacts book which includes direct links with talent - many of whom I’m currently in the process of developing ideas with - as well as agents and artists management, commissioners and commercial clients.

VERSATILE: I’ve a track record of delivering high production values across multi-genres. I’ve received awards for my entertainment podcasts and radio shows as well as for my storytelling/documentaries and for creating innovative digital content. As a result, I have 1st class production skills, sound editorial judgement, and am used to working with a range of stakeholders, under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Check out my podcast and docs work here, and my live radio work here. Plus, there’s also some exciting new series in production with big name talent which I can’t say much about right now….!

JOURNALISM: I also trained as a news journalist, so see ideas everywhere. Initially I worked as a crime reporter/investigative journalist on newspapers. I’ve even reported from Bosnia. So, as well as delivering high quality music and entertainment content, I can equally turn my hand to factual or hard-hitting content, such as true crime podcasts. My journalism background underpins rigorous editorial judgement, sharp analytical thinking, adaptability and a strong entrepreneurial drive.

DIGITAL: I also have bonus digital content-making skills – which includes previously being a Digital Editor at ITV (working across video and socials-led music, drama and entertainment content) and also winning ‘Best Creative Innovation’ at The Radio Academy Awards for my multi-platform work at the BBC. Therefore, I have a firm understanding of how to harness digital/social platforms to increase engagement around my audio content, including visualisation.

MENTOR: I’ve been fortunate enough to lead some great teams. I had some great mentors, so, I try to pass it on. I’ve been one of 20 mentors for the BBC’s Sandy Chalmers’ Mentoring Scheme plus I’ve also mentored ex-offenders for the amazing charity The Longford Trust. I’m currently organising the Radio Academy’s inaugural 1:1 ‘speed networking’ sessions with commissioners and heads of networks/platforms/indies, taking place at the 2025 Radio Festival - as well as helping the National Youth Arts Trust with their mentoring strategy.

So that’s me.

I also enjoy… drinking lots of tea, growing my own veg, watching a good film, upcycling stuff (usually painting discarded furniture I’ve ‘rescued’), collecting original Penguin Books (especially first editions) and taking way too many photos on my phone of objects and scenes I spot on my travels. I like being outdoors on nature and coastal walks, and am a National Trust member. I also love a good exhibition and can also often be found at The V&A or The Design Museum. I also have a pet fox.

Why not message me to say hello - and explore ways we might work together.

Kellie
